July & Half of August

This blog may be slowly turning into a non-update page of what the O'Prys are doing and more of stuff that I just like.

Oh well. Get over it.

I can't believe how fast this summer has ZOOMED by! I registered the boys for school last night and next Friday we Meet the Teacher. The first day is August 25th.

The boys in the pool on July 4th.

What did July hold for us.... well, we went to Refugio to celebrate my mom's 70th birthday. That was fun. I realized something while we were there. That was the first time in a long time that I had my mom all to myself without my siblings. It was kind of nice. Not that I don't like my siblings. While we were at home, I went through several boxes of my junk. I can't believe I even bothered to box some of that stuff up! We also went out the grave site where my grandparents are buried.

Mom made it more that clear that she did not want to have a party for her birthday so we decided we would have dinner at my sisters house. What my mom didn't know was that her two sisters and her friend Judy were also coming. When we drove up at 4 and she saw the extra cars, my mom went into panic mode. "Who did you invite?" I didn't invite anyone! And that wasn't a lie. My job was to keep her busy until 4. It was funny and she was pleasantly surprised. It was just the right size for her. Dinner was great. I ate too much.

The last day of July and first weekend of August we went to Wimberley! Yay! It's a close to camping as I will go. The beds leave much to be desired, it's hot with no air conditioning and you have to bring a lot of STUFF to get through the 4 days. Actually, we could take a lot less STUFF and still get by during the 4 days but hey, we're spoiled creatures.

Abby, Drew, Mckenna and JB play Wheel of Fortune. We brought two tv's this year.

The river is so much fun. This year the 2nd cousins (Wilson, Hannah, Duncan, Abby, Mckenna, Drew and JB) went down to the rope swing. It was fun watching them all swing out into the river! I even tried. It was not graceful! I also did not take enough pictures.

We ordered Chinese food, logged into our Virtual Dinner Party on Highlowaha and watched the Olympic Opening Ceremonies on the 8th. That was fun. JB decided he wanted to cheer for Turkey because they have a funny name. To which later he called them the Chickens. Drew opted out of the ceremonies in favor for the Ranger's game- my little sports fan.

This week I have been competing in the Highlowaha Decathlon. The first challenge was creating a caption for a cartoon. The second challenge is a ChampionCHIP bake off. I have my secret ingredient ready. The third challenge was to create a product to help you with your craft products. My product was the Easy Cutter- which one first place. Yesterdays challenge was to create something with a toilet paper roll. I created the Love Chi Windsock. Today's challenge... boggle! UGH! Creative I can do... vocabulary and spelling... not so much. Five more challenges will be announced next week and our baked item is due on the 21st. It's been fun!

Okay, so the photos are loaded and I'm reposting this post. :)

How to Fold a Shirt

I'm pretty sure she's making fun of us in her commentary.

I will try this when I get home. Or some time this weekend

Summer Fun!

I start your June update on July 1st. July 1st is the first day of National Ice Cream Month, which my friend, Claudia, at highlowaha.com is currently writing about. We took this first picture tonight to send to her. We went to Tom Thumb and bought the appropriate ice cream scoop. Our second purchase because I originally purchased the old timey kind with the thumb button. Then, I went to Claudia's last week and the ice cream professional set me straight.

The boys started the month of June on vacation with Andy, Sr. & Jane. Drew and JB flew by themselves for the first time from Dallas to New Orleans. The O'Prys picked them up and they drove to Gulf Shores. They had a great time.

Drew lost a tooth while he was gone. The Monday after they returned, JB had his regular front baby tooth along with his extra baby shark teeth extracted at Dr. Ellis' office. It was quick and he did great. He was up and going by the middle of the afternoon. Later that week, Drew is playing in the playroom and oops! Out came another tooth. And then this past week, he pulled his other front tooth! The tooth fairy has been one busy fairy around here. They have twin gaps now.

We are certainly enjoying the summer. I have decided my next years bonus money (if I'm so lucky to receive one) is going towards a sprinkler system! I have an awkward corner lot so it takes a lot of watering/moving/watering to get it all done. I have another story about my front door but I'll save that for another entry. Drew and JB have a great time running through the sprinklers.

Many of our Friday nights are spent at the local McDonald's where we meet up with some of our friends from Children's Courtyard. This past Friday we had a slight change and some of us came to the house for McSwim! The kids had a great time splashing around, eating snow cones and the McMoms got to have yummy margaritas instead of Big Macs!

My favorite spot in the pool is pictured below. I am so glad the we got a house with a pool. It's nice to be able to wake up, throw on our bathing suits and swim. The boys have a great time and I enjoy it both when they are here and also when I have the pool all to myself! I am perfectly happy with becoming old and wrinkly in my old age!

30 more days until our Wimberley vacation! Yay! We can't wait. We're starting to gather items that we want to take.

What I Made with My 20 Year Old Paper

This fish were magnets. The flowers was one big magnet. The shark is a prelude to our summer shark party coming up this summer.

Color-aid Paper

Really cool paper that I have been packing around for the last 20 years.
Mine is slightly curved up on the short sides.

Cars

Does the picture remind anyone else of my first car? It's the Chevrolet Sprint Plus, right? Nope. It's the Chevrolet Aveo 5! And, I'm actually thinking this may be my next car due to the gas prices I'm going to be paying by the end of summer.

Okay. It's just too darn similar! Will it make me feel like I'm in high school again? Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

If I can find an actual photo of my old car, I will add it to this post.

Energy Drink Commerical

This is too funny!

JB- King or Astronaut?

I'm either raising a future king or a future astronaut.

Either way, he has loved his Kindergarten teacher this year, Kasey Pounds.

During teacher appreciation week, he gave her a diet Coke on movie day.

He made the note all by himself.
