The Joy of Soccer- Go Sting!

Olivia, Drew, Freddy, Rishik, JB, Tyrese, & Briley

Soccer is a lot more fun this Spring as we have acquired some better players. Now, we've only won one game but it's still better than in the Fall. The boys are having fun. I have noticed that they're not running as much as they did in the fall. Last weeks game was just plain sloppy. The photos attached to this blog are from the game before when neither of our practiced goalies were at the game in the beginning so, Drew played goalie for a bit and did quite well. We still like him in the forward position (well, when he's full of pep anyway and running.) JB does best in the sweeper position. He attacks the ball like a, like a... shark?!!

Sweeper & Goalie are ready!

Whew! I'm at risk of having a heart attack when either of them plays goalie!

We only have a couple more games for this season! YAY! It's starting to get hot. YAY!

The boys actually took a quick dip in the pool this past Sunday. It was pretty, pretty cold. They had fun but I made them get out when I noticed JB's lips were turning blue. I can't wait for this summer and getting to swim again. The pool guy is working out great. And, so is the lawn guy. I'm hoping to get some of the beds redone but that's slow going. Which is fine. It all doesn't have to happen at once. And I want to do them myself- fruits of my labor and all that.

I have joined a neighborhood bunco group. We meet monthly on Friday's. I've only been to two parties and I feel very lucky to find this group of girls. They are a lot of fun. I've even started a blog that you can check out. The "Fun with Bunco" link is on the side.

One thing that has inspired me this month is Randy Pausch from Carnegie Melon and The Last Lecture. If you haven't seen it you should take the time to watch it.

Live Oak County Cabrito Cookoff

At the end of March, I journeyed down to the big metropolis of George West, Texas to hang out with my friends from high school and their cookoff team mates. They meet on Friday and get all set up. They had a fish fry and it was delicious!

You can't see my shirt but it says "Poor Little Billy" on it. Cabrito is goat. Get it? I made it on zazzle.com. And I had so much fun doing it. I crack myself up!

The City Slickers have become quite famous at the cookoff. They've won a lot of awards over the years. This year they were first in the carne asada entry and 8th in the cooked entry.

The Chickens!

You can't tell in this photo but they put cut lemons and limes on the breasts of these chickens. It was darn funny! The food was AMAZING!!! Not only was there so much of it, it ALL tasted so good. The ribs were to die for! Sweet, juicy and tender!! Yum-mee! Thanks for letting me hang out guys! It was a long drive so we'll have to see if I return for their annual trip.

Going to the Ranch

We spent a lot of time out at my parents ranch over the Easter weekend. It's a great place for the boys to roam and explore. Being the over-protective mom that I am, they don't stray too far from the adults but they do have a great time out there!
This looks like pure trouble!

My dad feeds the fish in his pond so it's pretty cool to fish here. We just use hand lines and the boys have gotten great at handling the fish. They still need to learn how to take the fish off the hooks and re-bait the hooks but all in good time.

Grandpa, Drew, JB & Mckenna

Grandpa is quite popular with the four wheeler. I can't believe I actually got this shot with all three kids actually look back towards me!

My kind of snow

Not sure what day this was but I left work early just in case the roads were a mess. I picked the boys up at 5:30 and we went home and they built a snow man. All of their gloves were in Park City and Nana and Grandads house so their hands were pretty cold. Drew didn't want to be in the picture but he did want to give the snowman bunny ears. They enjoyed some hot chocolate after they finished their master piece. The next day, the sun came out and melted the snow. Yay! The snowman was in the shadow of the tree so he lasted a couple of days. When it was just down to the bottom of him the boys had a great time throwing "snow balls" at each other and in the road to be run over by cars.

christmas photos... i didn't take near enough

well, it's only April and I finally got some Christmas photos put up. The boys always rake it in on Christmas. Santa comes to mom and dad's house. JB got this really cool guitar... hmm... Santa didn't bring the amplifier though... Drew asked for a Wii and Santa delivered. No photo of that.

I'm on a roll. I just know that I'll post more photos tomorrow. :)

Soccer & Crawfish

As you may have realized, I'm not a very good at keeping my own blog up to date but I'm very good at posting comments on other peoples blogs.

The boys had a soccer game and Saturday and I'm happy to report that they finally won a game! Yay! JB is the best little sweeper! When that ball gets near his goal he runs in there and kicks it away from the other team. Drew is all over the place. He played goalie the first half and did great! Then he played forward the rest of the game. You can tell that they're really starting to "get it". And, this season has been much better since we have new team members that are into the game as well.

I went to a crawfish boil (yum) for a friends 80 year old grandmother's birthday. That was a mouthful. Or handful of typing. :) I love crawfish but I forgot how much work they are and how messy they are for such a little amount. I think I might have become too prissy for them.

Other than that, I just enjoyed the sunshine and did some shopping. :) I'm still holding on to the hope that I'll get some photos posted up here for your viewing pleasure.

Did you watch Diane Sawyer's special on ABC last week about Randy Pausch and The Last Lecture? Oh my! I was totally inspired by him and his wife, Jai. Randy is dying of pancreatic cancer. Jai said, "I have all I need." And isn't it true. I know that having healthy kids, a roof over my head, a car that is running and job to go to... I have all I need. Now, there are some things that I still want... but all in good time.
